Nestled in the heart of downtown Iowa City, 223 Baby Co. is a modern boutique for toddlers, babies, and their mama’s. Although it is so much more than just a shop, it’s a space where families feel welcome, inspired, and connected.
I was hired to paint the mural on the back wall of their store in 2023, which is a colorful pattern of shapes. And in 2025 I worked with the owner to create a new logo that matched the mural. We created a brand that is playful, colorful, and fun —one that curates a love for that nostalgic childhood.

The final logo concept centers around a tree growing through a foundation of stone—symbolizing strength, growth, and the balance between nature and structure. This visual metaphor directly represents the company’s services, from landscaping to hardscaping, while reinforcing their philosophy: Design • Build • Enjoy.

The goal was to create a brand identity that reflects the company’s commitment to precision, craftsmanship, and high-end finishes. Through a bold, structured mark and a refined, minimal aesthetic, the brand communicates strength, reliability, and timeless elegance—positioning Stone Matters as a trusted, premium choice for residential spaces.
Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival
Brand Identity
The Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival is an annual, city-wide celebration honoring Independence Day through a series of community events and activities.
In 2012, my design was selected as the winning logo in their annual logo competition. The final identity captures the spirit of the festival through bold, patriotic visuals and a classic Americana-inspired style. At the center of the design is the iconic Five Seasons Tree—a statue and an emblem of Cedar Rapids—grounding the brand in a strong sense of place and local pride. The branding was applied across a wide range of materials, including t-shirts, posters, brochures, and promotional items, creating a cohesive and recognizable presence throughout the event.
NewBo Run
Brand Identity
The NewBo Run is an annual Half Marathon and 10K held each Labor Day weekend in the New Bohemia district of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The race route weaves through some of the area’s most scenic landmarks, including Prairie Park Fishery, the Sac and Fox Trail, and the Indian Creek Nature Center.
I originally designed the event’s logo in 2013, creating a bold, energetic identity that reflects the spirit of the running community and the vibrancy of the NewBo district. Over a decade later, the brand continues to be used, becoming a recognizable and enduring symbol of the event. My family and I have been lifelong runners, so I brought a personal understanding of the sport into the design—capturing movement, community, and momentum in a way that resonates with runners year after year.
